From 1999 to 2006 Thanh-Khoa Tran studied communication design at the university of applied sciences in Düsseldorf, his main subject was photography. His diploma thesis “Liquid Universe” was supervised by Professor Gerhard Vormwald and Mr. Eib Eibelshäuser.

Since 2006 he is a free lance photographer and assistant with the main topics “People” and “Still-life”.

AWARDS and EXHIBITIONS:

2003 Group exhibition „Pure nature“, class Prof. Vormwald, university of applied sciences Düsseldorf at castle Dyck near Neuss, Germany

2004 Award at the „Canon Pro Fashional Contest“. Germany

2006 Award of the „Club of free photographers“, Germany and subsequent exhibitions at Cologne, Hamburg and Stuttgart, Germany

2006 Exhibition at the trade fair „Photokina”, Cologne, Germany

2006 Exhibition at the public library of Heidelberg, Germany


The main impulses for my project „Liquid universe“ I received during my studies as assistant of Prof. Vormwald. His research project “Never seen by any eye” (photography of objects and liquids in the ultra short time range) supplied me with many ideas. The diversity and visual and technical possibilities of this complex theme and their photographic expression were inspired and influenced for my own work.

The fascination during viewing these ephemeral forms and the knowledge about the many possibilities of visual aesthetic in photography represented the main cause and origin of my project “Liquid universe”.

Several internships at the agency „Creative Service“, with the photographer Patrick Zier as well as my own works as assistant and designer provided me to use the required techniques with sufficient abilities to successfully complete this project.
