NYC Reflections 857
Author:
William Francis Curtis
Short text
William Francis Curtis was born in 1952 in Massachusetts, USA. In college, Curtis studied biology and earned a Ph.D. in 1979. For nearly 25 years, he has worked as an editor in the field of scientific and medical publishing. Curtis was given his first camera ? a Kodak ?brownie? box camera ? when he was seven years old. Photography has been an enduring interest throughout his life.
For the past three years, Curtis has studied at the International Center for Photography in Manhattan. He has taken classes with Per Gylfe, Mark Haven, Susan Kleckner, and Lynn Saville. Curtis?s work encompasses both the complexity of urban settings and the tranquility of the seashore. Perhaps arising from his scientific training, Curtis is currently working on capturing the photographic subject as a reflection of light in many planes. His NYC Reflections series, which developed with Susan Kleckner during her well-known ?A Roll A Day? course at ICP, is both playful and insightful in its treatment of everyday subjects amidst the bustling world of New York City.
Curtis works in the digital format, shooting with Canon and Sony equipment
